Tony Husband is a UK and US sports broadcaster who has worked on some of the most iconic BBC Sports programmes and covered major events including the Olympics, the FA Cup Final, Champions League football, World Athletics Series and Wimbledon. 
 
In Spring 2020, Tony was named lead commentator for the new Major League Soccer club in Nashville.

Before this, he joined the ranks of BBC Match Of The Day commentators in 2013.

Tony has also been one of the lead reporters on Final Score - the BBC's live Saturday football show.
 
For 8 years Tony was the television sports presenter on BBC South Today which he also fronted on regular occasions.
In March 2020, Tony was named as the Royal Television Society Southern Sports Journalist Of The Year.
 
Tony is part of the IAAF's global athletics commentary team. He was one of the lead commentators at the 2019 World Championships in Doha as well as commentating on his second World Relays in Japan. He has been behind the mic at multiple World Athletic Series Events in the USA, Africa and Europe.
 
When the BBC held the rights to the EFL, he hosted his own BBC1 show - Late Kick Off.
 
He has a passion for American sport particularly the NFL. He has presented regular season and play-off games on BBC Radio and has also fronted Major League Baseball coverage.

 

Born in Plymouth, Tony played cricket for Devon Colts whilst a Plymouth College pupil, before graduating from Bournemouth University in 1998. He started his sports broadcasting career as Southampton commentator for BBC Radio Solent and covered the 2003 FA Cup Final.

As a documentary maker Tony has presented a number of special programmes for the BBC including the rise and fall of Portsmouth FC and the London 2012 Olympics.

A keen traveller, Tony has broadcast from The Middle East, Europe, North America and the Caribbean.

He is married to Helena and they have homes in Nashville and Hampshire.
